According to a CTA spokesperson, the male officer became upset, boarded the Number 62 bus and assaulted the male driver. The bus driver was injured and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Two officers already on board the bus arrested the off-duty police officer following the assault.
A spokesman for the Independent Police Review Authority says the agency is investigating allegations of a police officer striking a bus driver.
