Woman gets probation for mistreating horses

November 30, 2009 (CHICAGO) Jeannine Lawler-Benz has two farms in Woodstock. She was accused of mistreating more than a dozen horses.

Lawler-Benz accepted a two-year ban on owning or quartering more than four horses at a time. She was also ordered to pay a $500 fine.

A 20-year-old quarter horse in her care starved to death.

An investigation started in August of 2008 after a Woodstock organization accused Lawler-Benz of mistreating horses.
