Tree stolen from Carpentersville park

Someone chopped down an 8-foot-tall spruce at Carpenter Park, leaving only a stump just before Christmas. Police are looking for the suspect or suspects who sawed down the Colorado Blue Spruce, which was planted as part of the Carpentersville Arbor Day celebration in 2007, according to ABC7 News partner The Daily Herald.

The same tree was once decorated for the holiday season, but that tradition ended because it was often vandalized, according to officials.

Police said they will prosecute in the Christmas tree case.
