Fire commissioner rings bell at Macy's for needy

December 16, 2009 (CHICAGO) John Brooks was in front of Macy's flagship store at State and Washington ringing the bell for the Salvation Army.

Donations to the Army's Red Kettle Christmas Campaign fund many programs and services for people in need.

The 2009 Red Kettle Campaign's fundraising goal is $12 million.

So far they've raised $5.1 million.

The campaign continues through the end of January.
