ABC7 has learned just how much Chicago has spent on security for President Barack Obama.Documents ABC7 obtained using the Freedom of Information Act show Chicago has spent more than $3.5 million since November of 2008.

The costs include security details at the Obama's Kenwood home, police escorts for the president, and security at the federal building during the presidential transition.

Federal officials say Chicago does get reimbursed, but the records show the city is still owed $1.58 million.

This past October, Chicago police turned over the regular security detail responsibilities at the Obama's home to the Secret Service.
