Counselors visit school after players hurt in crash

Counselors were available at Glenbard West High School Monday after a Friday night crash critically injured two football players.The single-car accident occurred around 8 p.m. as the vehicle was headed north on Swift Road, north of St. Charles Road in Glen Ellyn, when the driver lost control. Swerving into incoming traffic, the driver then hit a light post.

Two boys, both 17, who were inside the vehicle, were taken to a Lombard hospital after suffering serious injuries. They both remain hospitalized.

The Daily Herald is reporting that the victims are senior Pierre Washington-Steel and junior Demarco Whitley, both running backs on the football team.
