Banning poker might cost counties construction funds

A bill recently introduced would require those municipalities to make up the revenue that would have been generated by the machines. If they don't repay the state, Illinois would deduct funds for projects in their area.

Dozens of local governments have banned video gambling machines since Governor Pat Quinn and the General Assembly legalized them last July.

The revenue would help pay for a $31 billion statewide construction plan.
