CISC is being held through Sunday at the Westin O'Hare in Rosemont. Here are some of the highlights:
Live music all weekend long: on Friday night, the Edwin Bonilla y su Orquesta from Miami will be featured; on Saturday Julito Alvarado y Del Sur al Norte and Nino Segarra from Puerto Rico; and on Sunday, Jose Alberto "El Canario" y su Orquesta from Puerto Rico.
Special appearance on Sunday by Anissa Gathers, the star of "Celia el Musical: the Life and Music of Celia Cruz," coming to Chicago March 18-21 at the Athenaeum Theatre.
Dance Workshops: Every day from 9:30 am to 4 pm.. Learn Salsa, mambo, tricks and lifts, ladies styling, partner work, cha-cha-cha, rueda casino, Cuban rumba, hip-hop salsa, bomba y plena, to Salsarobics, Tae Bo Mambo and Zumba. Over 60 workshops taught at all levels and featuring everything you ever wanted to know about Afro-Latin rhythms and dance under one roof.
Healthy Lifestyles Workshops: alternates fun dance and fitness workshops with stay healthy/get healthy presentations. Meet real doctors and learn first hand healthy tips, sports medicine, treatment for minor injuries, healthy diet, diabetes prevention and management. Free admission to the Healthy Lifestyles Workshops.
Dance showcase: Don't miss even one of the 7Spectacular dance shows! The Emerging Artist Matinee show features rising star performers on stage with professional performers. Each evening's Salsa & Mambo Star Studded Showcase on the main stage is an extravaganza.
Special guest CISC disc jockeys who keep the music vibe going in the event open spaces, vendor area, workshops and ballrooms - non stop action day and night! 4 fabulous nights and 3 jam-packed days of cultural immersion, outstanding Latin music and dance. Expand your world view like never before!
