Firefighters in Cicero returned Monday to the neighborhood where seven people died in a fire last week.

The home is boarded up and a memorial of stuffed animals sits out front. The firefighters went to the home next door and several others in the community to hand out free smoke detectors. They also spoke to residents about fire safety.

In Chicago, students learned about fire safety Monday morning during an event at Joyce Kilmer Elementary School. ABC 7 morning anchor Judy Hsu and general manager Emily Barr also spoke to the students about the importance of practicing fire safety. It's all part of ABC 7's "Operation Save A-Life" program with the Chicago Fire Department.
