Family history best stroke predictor

March 8, 2010

Doctors from Boston University studied more than 3,000 people. They found adults whose parents suffered a stroke were more likely to have one themselves And those whose parents had a stroke before age 65 were four times as likely to suffer a stroke themselves at a younger age.

If you have a family history of strokes, make sure to let your doctor know. Lifestyle changes and medications can help reduce your risk.
