Suburban taxpayers angry about pancake house bailout

March 8, 2010 (COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill.)

They say they aren't happy that taxpayer money was used to bail out the Chatham Pancake House.

Village officials talked Owner Leslie Noel into opening the restaurant a year and a half ago.

But the pancake house is having problems.

The village voted to pay the restaurant's overdue $7,200 electric bill.

The village gave Noel a monthly repayment plan with interest. A lien was placed on his restaurant equipment, just in case he does close.
