Comic strip detective Dick Tracy is now a permanent fixture along Naperville's Riverwalk.A 9-ft. bronze statue of the famous character was unveiled Sunday.

The statue is in honor of Naperville native Dick Locher, who has drawn and written the Dick Tracy comic strip for the past 27 years.

Locher attended Sunday's dedication along the banks of the DuPage River.

"Dick Tracy" was created back in 1931. Locher and his late son, John, took over in 1983.
