CTA to rehire some laid-off workers

Some CTA employees who were laid off more than two months ago are being rehired.

The agency cut 1,100 jobs and some service February 7 because of a $300 million budget deficit. Since then, some employees have left their jobs. Because of that attrition, 26 bus drivers and eight rail operators will get their jobs back.

CTA officials say service cuts will remain unless additional funding becomes available.
