Superintendent Charles Flowers has resigned his post as chief of the suburban Cook County Regional Office of Education.

By agreeing to resign the embattled educator was allowed to keep his teacher's certification. Flowers is facing felony charges of theft and public corruption.

The Illinois State Board of Education says he was stripped of his administrative certificates for the next four years.

If convicted of a felony, Flowers will permanently lose his teaching and administrative licenses in Illinois.
