Runoff vote coming up for Chicago Teachers Union

May 22, 2010 (CHICAGO) With some ballots remaining to be counted, none of the five slates is close to winning a majority of the votes in Friday's balloting.

The United Progressive Caucus Slate, headed by Union President Marilyn Stewart, finished first in the voting. Stewart has led the union for six years.

Her slate is opposed by the Caucus of Rank-and-File Educators. Their presidential candidate is Karen Lewis. Her slate finished second.
