Darnell Thomas, 21, is charged with first degree murder in the death of 17-month-old Jamar Harris.
Harris died at his home early Saturday of multiple blunt force trauma.
Thomas is the boyfriend of Harris' mother. He is also charged with abusing the child's three-year-old brother.
Thomas is expected to appear in court Monday.
