Swimming ban lifted at city beaches

Chicagoans can once again take a dip in Lake Michigan- at their own discretion.

A swimming ban was lifted at all the city's beaches.

Swim advisories have been issued for South Shore, Oak Street, Hartigan and Juneway based on water quality. That means swimming is allowed, but there is a risk of illness.

Heavy rains last weekend forced the city to close its beaches; to cope with flooding, officials released sewage into the lake, making it unsafe for swimmers.
