Hundreds of people were forced out of their homes early Sunday morning after fire ripped through an apartment building in Chicago's River North neighborhood. The 14-story building, located near the corner of LaSalle and Oak streets, houses students and elderly residents.

Two women in their 80s were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for exhaustion. They were listed in fair condition later Sunday morning.

No other injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators say the cause of the blaze appears to be from a faulty electrical vault. Comed crews were on the scene as fire crews worked to ventilate the building.
