Former Chicago Fire Commissioner John Brooks has been cleared in a sexual harassment complaint lodged against him.

An independent investigation found Brooks committed no wrongdoing. He was accused of trying to get a female employee laid off after she refused his alleged advances.

Brooks denied the allegation when he announced his resignation earlier this year.

Another former city staffer was cleared of allegations that he tried to influence the Brooks investigation.
