Right now the info is only available to subscribers, but in several months, the public can see it at the website of the Society for Thoracic Surgeons.
The society, which has been tracking surgeons' performance for years, gave the information to Consumer Reports.
An article in the New England Journal of Medicine says this effort is a watershed event in healthcare accountability.
