Family members tell police that Jahdane Taver rolled off of a bed while he was sleeping and landed in a bucket of water.
The Department of Children and Family services is investigating an allegation of death by neglect against the boy's mother, but no charges have been filed.
The medical examiner says it is undetermined if the death was accidental, a homicide or from natural causes.
