Suicide up among baby boomers

September 28, 2010

A new study finds the increase in suicides is most pronounced in unmarried, white males without college degrees.

The study in the 'Journal Public Health' blames a combination of poor health and a poor economy for this increase.

Researchers say the increase is disturbing because middle aged people usually have a relatively low risk for suicide as they seek to support their families. However, baby boomers are going against the trend.
