Orange, green vegetables may lengthen life

November 24, 2010

A new study finds they could increase your life.

Vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans and more may be tied to less disease and longer life.

This time it's not beta carotene but rather it's cousin alpha carotene. Both are members of the antioxidant family.

Scientists believe these antioxidants promote health by counteracting oxygen related damage to DNA.

However, it's still unclear which elements contribute to health effects or how they do so.
