Gov. Pat Quinn has issued a number of clemency petitions and reduced a long back-up.

The governor is working on a backlog of nearly 2,500 cases that built up under the Blagojevich administration.

Wednesday, the governor approved 20 petitions and denied 48 others.

Since taking office, Quinn has acted on 810 clemency petitions and granted 317 pardons. He authorized expungement for eight people who were already pardoned, and granted one commutation.
