A 23-year-old man who worked in a suburban stone warehouse was crushed to death by a 6,000 pound slab of granite Thursday morning.

Fire crews rushed to Primus Natural Stone in Romeoville at about 9:15 a.m., but it was too late to save the man.

The worker was trapped and recovering his body took more than three hours.

The man's identity has not yet been released.

Inspectors from OSHA were sent to the warehouse to investigate. The warehouse has no history of safety issues.
