Chicago police are investigating an incident where someone allegedly pointed a gun at a state representative.

Edward Acevedo says it happened Friday night as he returned to his home in the 2500-block of South Oakley. A van pulled up, and someone inside pointed a gun at him.

Acevedo says that when he yelled, "CPD!" the van sped away.

Acevedo says he is on leave from the department. He said someone had recently painted gang symbols on his building, and that the people in the van may have stopped because they saw it.

Acevedo was not injured.
