Jury selection is expected to begin Tuesday morning for a Steger man who was involved in a deadly crash shortly after police had given him the car keys.

Prosecutors say Cecil Conner was intoxicated when he crashed last May, killing his girlfriend's son, 5-year-old Michael Langford.

Chicago Heights police had given him the keys after they had stopped and arrested his girlfriend for driving on a suspended license.

Police insist that Conner did not appear intoxicated or smell like alcohol when the officer gave him the car keys.
