Crews tear down collapsed warehouse

January 24, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Crews are preparing to tear down the structure in the 1700-block of West 75th Street.

Chicago Firefighters Edward Stringer and Corey Ankum were killed when the roof collapsed on them as they were searching the building during a fire on December 22. Fellow firefighters worked frantically to save them- and others- trapped in the debris. Several others were hurt.

Investigators believe the fire was started by homeless people burning garbage and wood to stay warm.
