New Taste organizers propose $10 admission

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley said he wants the Taste of Chicago to always be free, but the companies that may take over the event are proposing a $10 admission price.

That's half of the fee initially suggested for the food festival that's lost $7 million in the past three years.

The Sun-Times reported there was only one bid to take over the Taste and six other city festivals. It came from a joint-venture between the Illinois Restaurant Association, Jam Productions and AEG Live.
