Hundreds still without power in Chicago

Although rapidly falling temperatures are expected to make the work of repair crews harder, utilities report good progress in restoring electric power to Illinois customers left in the dark by this week's blizzard.

Hundreds of ComEd customers were without power in the Chicago area late Thursday morning.

ComEd said crews were working to restore power to an estimated 4,600 customers system-wide. Approximately 4,300 of those without power are in Chicago.

ComEd electricity has been restored to more than 182,000 customers since the storm began Tuesday afternoon.

The city of Chicago was the hardest-hit area within the utility's service territory.
