Chicago's police superintendent warned those with gang connections to stop the street violence Thursday night at a meeting with former and current gang members.

About 60 parolees gathered at a West Side community center. Some of them were frisked before they entered the summit.

Supt. Weis has held similar meetings before, putting active gang members on notice that criminal activities, especially murders, will not be tolerated.

Reporters were not allowed inside, but those who attended said the superintendent told them to put down their guns or face severe legal consequences.
