Despite the cold weather, a beach in Evanston has been a busy place over the weekend.

The sixth annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Super Plunge was under way in the northern suburb.

Super plungers, including many local police officers, were jumping into Lake Michigan once an hour ever hour for 24 straight hours for a good cause. Each super plunger is attempting to raise at least $2,500 for Special Olympics Illinois.

The event is the first of 18 super plunges to be held around the state.
