Pfleger: Politicians 'cowards' on handgun ban

Some students from Howard University are spending their spring break in Chicago calling for a national ban on assault weapons. They rallied at Daley Plaza along with Father Michael Pfleger and other religious leaders.

The group is asking the Illinois legislature to block a bill that would allow people to carry concealed handguns in public.

Father Pfleger says if it's passed more children would be killed by gun violence.

"Assault weapons were created for the Army and they're for murder," said Pfleger.

Father Pfleger also called legislators, including Senate President John Cullerton, cowards for not doing enough to keep the bill from moving forward.

Cullerton's office says the senate president has been an advocate for anti-gun violence causes and he looks forward to meeting with Father Pfleger.
