Possible MRSA case puts school on alert

March 22, 2011 (CHICAGO)

MRSA is difficult to treat because it is resistant to antibiotics.

Officials at Simon Guggenheim Elementary School say they've taken precautions to protect students.

All areas of the school have been sanitized and students are being reminded to practice good hygiene by washing their hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizers.

Officials are still waiting for test results to confirm that it is in fact a case of MRSA.
