America's issues with weight have gone global

A new study finds the number of societies that idolize thinness has grown.

Anthropologists at Arizona State University contend that American television shows exported all over the world have had an impact on the body image of young girls in plumper countries.

The only place that did not have a stigma against obese people was sub-Saharan Africa.

The study appears in the journal Current Anthropology.
