Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel says he supports Chicago's After School Matters program and wants to expand it.

Emanuel and first lady Maggie Daley checked on how the program is doing at Foreman High School. They went to a martial arts program and a science lab.

Mrs. Daley helped start After School Matters 20 years ago. It currently serves 20,000 students. Emanuel wants to make it bigger and Mrs. Daley says she's willing to help.

"We'll be partnering together, and I won't be able to do it without his support. This is the mayor's program, and that's important to remember and I think that working together we will try to expand the program," said Daley.

Mrs. Daley didn't say how long she'll stay involved.
