Emanuel: Runoff election important for city

Chicago mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel says Tuesday's runoff election is important for the city, not for him.

Voters will go to the polls to settle aldermanic races in 14 wards. There are also a number of races up for grabs in many suburbs.

In Chicago, Emanuel says the elections are important because the city is facing a number of tough issues, and he says voters were clear in February they want reform.

"I need a new partner. I was upfront in the election about that. And that partner is a City Council that wants to work in the spirit of reform and change to the way business is conducted in city government," said Emanuel.
