The first in a series of public hearings on the Chicago Public Schools' latest round of proposed consolidations begins Wednesday.

An independent hearing officer will hear testimony from CPS officials supporting the consolidation as well as from members of the public.

Wednesday's hearing will discuss consolidating the four small schools at the Bowen campus into the new Millennium High School.

Interim CPS CEO Terry Mazany plans to make a formal recommendation to the board later this month.
