Bill would block officials from putting names on toll signs

Many drivers were irritated when former governor Rod Blagojevich placed his name on signs along the Illinois tollways.

One lawmaker wants to prevent that from happening again.

State Senator Matt Murphy is proposing legislation that prevents elected officials from having taxpayer subsidized promotion on state highways.

The law will add bill and message boards to the list of already banned promotional styles.

The bill passed the state Senate Wednesday. It now goes before the Illinois House.
