The move follows a report in the Southtown Star newspaper that showed Mayor Dwight Welch and the former city manager used the credit card for personal expenses.
Welch is expected to pay back all charges which exceeded his $36,000 dollar expense account.
Earlier this month, the council voted to cancel city-issued credit cards for all department heads.
The only city credit card would now belong to the finance department senior accountant.
