CDC: Don't skip your flu shot this year

The new 2011-2012 flu vaccine protects against seasonal flu and H1N1, just like last year's, but health officials say that doesn't mean you can skip your yearly flu shot.

According to the CDC, protection wanes over the course of a year. So this recommendation applies to everyone over six months of age.

But this season's guidelines also cover the newly approved Fluzone Intradermal vaccine for adults 18 to 24. The shot involves a much shorter needle which delivers the vaccine just under the skin rather than the muscle. This should result in less pain and muscle soreness.
