Hewlett Packard producing more TouchPads

August 31, 2011

Hewlett Packard says it will temporarily resume production even though it still plans to discontinue the TouchPad just two months after its launch.

The TouchPad was designed to take on Apple's iPad but at $400 never really competed. Then 11 days ago, HP dropped the price to $99 to get rid of its inventory. That set off a surge of sales with TouchPads quickly selling out at retail outlets.

HP has not said how many more it will make or when they will be available.
