Emergency crews were still on the scene of a massive fire in Kankakee Friday night putting out hot spots.

Chopper 7 HD flew over the scene of the River Valley Recycling Company Friday afternoon. The fire started just before 2 p.m.

The building houses a recycling center and a tannery. The fire quickly spread to a neighboring building.

Firefighters struggled to control the flames after a series of explosions occurred. There were propane tanks inside one of the buildings.

Emergency crews are monitoring the building for possible environmental issues.
