Aurora approves $50 arrest fee

The city of Aurora approved a new way to raise money Tuesday night. It will assess a $50 fee on every person arrested in that suburb.

The money will pay for the cost of doing things like fingerprinting and jailing suspects. Those arrested will not get their $50 refunded, even if they're found not guilty.

Aurora averages nearly 11,000 arrests a year. So the fee is expected to raise $550,000 annually.
