Former Penn State University President Graham Spanier is no longer a distinguished graduate of Highland Park High School.

The school confirms that a plaque honoring Spanier was removed from its lobby Thursday.

Spanier's name has also been erased from the high school's website.

Spanier was a 1966 graduate.

Penn State's board of trustees fired Spanier on Wednesday, after 16 years in the post, in the wake of a child sex-abuse scandal involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
