Mark Clements of Campaign to End Torture held a news conference Monday morning outside police headquarters at 35th and Michigan.
The deaths happened at the Calumet area district police station on East 111th Street. Melvin Woods was found hanging in a cell Sunday morning. His death was ruled a suicide. It came four days after Develt Bradford was found hanging by his pants in a cell at the station.
Critics say the deaths should be investigated by an independent agency and not the Chicago Police Department.
