Drivers still distracted despite increased awareness

A new study finds most US drivers engage in distracting behaviors even though they know it is dangerous.

That includes cell phones, fiddling with food and drink, or doing some last-minute grooming.

The Harris Interactive/Health Day poll researchers say the number of drivers who engage in potentially dangerous and sometimes extremely dangerous behaviors is particularly high when you remember that every 1 percent of drivers polled represents more than 1.75 million people.
