Decatur police catch thieves with Rudolph, Frosty

December 5, 2011 (DECATUR)

The (Decatur) Herald & Review reports the holiday tale began when a witness called police to report the theft of Christmas decorations from a home in Decatur on Saturday.

Police sent out an alert, and an officer stopped a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car.

Inside officers found three light-up Christmas gift ornaments, two large plastic candy canes, a light-up Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer lawn ornament and a light-up Frosty the Snowman lawn ornament.

Sgt. Brian Bell says it was pretty obvious the officer had the right car.

Authorities say three women and two men, all in their 20s, were booked on theft charges.
