Derrick King, 50, is charged with misdemeanor assault. Police said he threatened to kill a man he repeatedly asked for money from, in the Uptown neighborhood.
In 2008, Derrick King and Joyce Burgess were convicted in the brutal attack of Jennifer Hall and her boyfriend near Wabash and Roosevelt. King received early release from prison under a Department of Corrections program.
