Brewed tea could lower risk of heart problems

December 21, 2011

Anti-oxidant researchers at Tufts University say their data shows people who drink brewed tea appear to have a lower risk of heart disease and heart attack survivors lower their likelihood of a second heart attack by drinking brewed tea.

Researchers have identified flavonoids as being the active anti-oxidant in tea.

The strongest dose of flavonoids is found in freshly brewed tea as opposed to more diluted teas like instant or iced tea.
